Zungu wins CCM nod for Speaker

DODOMA: The ruling party, Chama cha Mapinduzi (CCM), has endorsed Ilala Member of Parliament (MP) Mussa Issa Zungu for Speaker of the National Assembly.
Zungu secured the nomination after winning 348 votes, defeating his opponent, Stephen Masele, former MP for Shinyanga Urban, who received 16 votes.

The 13th Parliament is set to convene tomorrow, with the official Speaker election scheduled the same day.
Once elected, Zungu will immediately assume his duties, starting with swearing in Members of Parliament.
The strong backing signals CCM’s confidence in Zungu to lead the new Parliament and oversee its legislative agenda effectively.
