DAR ES SALAAM: THE  Tanzania Teachers’ Union (TTU) has assured Tanzanians that teachers will fully participate in the upcoming general election on October 29, 2025.

The union urged all teachers to turn out in large numbers to vote, reflecting the official position of CWT, as announced by its President, Mr. Suleiman Ikomba.

In a statement sent to regional and district secretaries, TTU Permanent Secretary, Mr. Joseph Misalaba, called on teachers and the public to act as ambassadors of peace, love, unity, and solidarity, contributing to Tanzania’s sustainable development for the benefit of present and future generations.

“The Tanzania Teachers’ Union firmly denies false reports being spread online and in some media, which encourage teachers not to participate in the general election. Some teachers serve as election assistants according to the laws, rules, and procedures of the Tanzanian government,” Mr. Misalaba said.

He appealed to teachers, TTU members, and the wider public to disregard these false claims, describing them as attempts to create confusion, fear, and division. He emphasized the need to protect national peace, unity, and stability.

CWT assured the public that it will continue to collaborate with relevant authorities to prevent the spread of false information and ensure the role of labor unions is safeguarded in accordance with Tanzanian law.
