Nchimbi vows to uphold party’s trust in region

RUVUMA: CCM presidential running mate, Ambassador Emmanuel Nchimbi has pledged to honour the trust placed in him by the people of Ruvuma Region, vowing to serve with integrity if elected to work alongside President Samia Suluhu Hassan in the next government.

Speaking at a well-attended campaign rally held at Lituhi Primary School grounds in Nyasa District, Amb Nchimbi described his nomination as both a personal honour and a symbol of the region’s leadership potential.

“If I fail to support the President faithfully, I will have failed the people of Ruvuma and the entire Southern Zone. I will do everything in my power to uphold your trust,” he said.

He urged residents to turn out in large numbers on October 29th General Election and to safeguard their voter ID cards, stressing that a high voter turnout in Nyasa would send a strong national message of support for President Samia’s leadership.

“If Ruvuma is seen and heard across the country, that will be a great honour. But if you don’t vote, how can we justify the development projects we ask for?” he challenged.

Amb Nchimbi also thanked traditional elders in Nyasa for offering him cultural blessings, describing it as a powerful sign of community support for the government’s development direction.

During his address, Amb Nchimbi outlined CCM’s five-year development plan for the region, including upgrading the district hospital, constructing ten new dispensaries and six new health centres, building nine primary schools, six secondary schools, 210 classrooms and 18 laboratories.

On infrastructure he said the party led-government is planning to construct a modern bus terminal in Nyasa, extending electricity to all hamlets and implementing over 15 clean water projects, including deep wells and safe water filtration systems.

He said other plans include building four new bridges and more than 17 kilometres of tarmac roads, including the 112-kilometre Songea–Lituhi Road and rehabilitation of Mitomoni Bridge.

Earlier, CCM parliamentary candidate for Nyasa, Mr John Nchimbi listed key achievements from 2021– 2025, including construction of six primary and six secondary schools, addition of 116 classrooms for primary and 77 for secondary schools, establishment of four new health centres and eight dispensaries, electrification of all 84 villages in Nyasa District and increase in clean water access from 47 to 68 per cent.

However, he appealed for faster electrification of the remaining hamlets and completion of a small water project in Lituhi Ward. He also reminded voters of President Samia’s commitment to provide a rescue boat and establish a coffee processing factory for Mpepo Division, projects which he said are under active government follow-up.

“We are hopeful that, for the first time since independence, tarmac roads will reach Nyasa,” he said.
