TTCL builds 1,400 towers to boost rural connectivity across Tanzania

DAR ES SALAAM: TTCL Corporation has is implementing an ambitious project of constructing 1,400 communication towers across rural Tanzania in a major push to bridge the country’s digital divide and expand reliable network coverage to underserved areas.

The announcement was made in Dar es salaam by TTCL’s Director of Legal Services, Anita Moshi during the launch of the Customer Service Week 2025 celebrations held under the theme “Mission: Possible.”

According to TTCL, the new infrastructure will ensure that millions of Tanzanians in remote areas gain access to affordable, high-quality communication services. The expansion is part of the company’s long-term strategy to enhance digital inclusion and support the government’s vision of a connected nation.

“This project is a key milestone in our mission to make sure no Tanzanian is left behind in the digital revolution,” said Ms. Moshi who represented the corporation’s Director General Mr Moremi Marwa.

She added; “The 1,400 towers will help remove barriers to communication, improve service reliability, and strengthen socio-economic development across all regions.”

The investment complements TTCL’s existing broadband initiative, “Faiba Mlangoni Kwako,” which delivers fiber connectivity directly to homes and businesses. TTCL has also pledged continued investment in modern network technology to meet international service standards and extend coverage to every corner of the country.

Currently, TTCL serves thousands of customers nationwide, with operations reaching beyond Tanzania’s borders into East and Central Africa. The state-owned telecom aims to position itself as a regional leader in connectivity and innovation.

“As we continue to modernize and expand, our focus remains on the customers. Their trust fuels our drive to make the impossible possible.” Ms Moshi said
