RC: Emergency health services improved as facilities increase across Dodoma

DODOMA: THE expansion of health service centres across all wards in Dodoma Region reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing access to emergency medical care, particularly during accidents and reducing maternal and child mortality.

Dodoma Regional Commissioner (RC), Ms Rosemary Senyamule, made the remarks during a working visit to Dalai Ward over the weekend.

The visit included an inspection of development projects in Chemba District, with a focus on infrastructure in the education and health sectors.

“The presence of a hospital here will help save lives in emergencies such as accidents and other incidents requiring urgent medical attention. The government is committed to bringing health centres closer to communities to reduce or even eliminate, maternal and child deaths. Every life matter, especially during childbirth,” said RC Senyamule.

The construction of the Dalai Health Centre is being funded through 678.7m/- from the central government, supplemented by 10.8m/- in community contributions, bringing the total investment to 689.5m/-.

The project is aimed at improving access to healthcare, particularly for pregnant women and children, by reducing travel time and easing the burden on existing facilities.

Meanwhile, at the Songolo Ward dispensary project, Chemba District Commissioner (DC), Ms Halima Okash, said that the initiative had received 60m/- from the central government and an additional 10m/- in community support.

The project is currently 65 per cent complete and is expected to be finalised by November 30, 2025.

Local residents, especially women, who are the primary users of the dispensary, expressed gratitude to the government, noting that the new facility will relieve them from travelling long distances to the Hamai Village dispensary.

In addition to healthcare projects, the Regional Commissioner also inspected the ongoing construction of two classrooms at Mondo Primary School.

The classrooms are being built with 46m/- from the central government.

She also visited the construction of 21 toilets, funded with 49.4m/- through the Sustainable Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (SRWSS) programme.
