Muhimbili Mloganzila launches premier clinic to boost medical tourism

DAR ES SALAAM: MUHIMBILI National Hospital (MNH) – Mloganzila has unveiled its Premier Clinic, a new facility set to enhance Tanzania’s capacity to provide world-class healthcare services and strengthen its medical tourism drive.

The clinic, which offers specialized services such as cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, and executive health check-ups, is part of MNH’s efforts to reduce outbound medical travel and position Tanzania as a regional healthcare hub.

Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Albert Chalamila commended the launch, describing it as a milestone that reflects the government’s determination to transform the health sector.

“This clinic demonstrates Tanzania’s readiness to compete internationally and offer quality care that meets global standards,” he said.

MNH Executive Director Dr Delilah Kimambo said the Premier Clinic has been designed to combine advanced medical services with personalized patient care, ensuring comfort, privacy, and efficiency.

Representing the MNH Board of Trustees, Dr Khadija Malima noted that the facility marks a new chapter in the hospital’s mission to provide sustainable, high-quality services.

From the Ministry of Health, Asha Mahita, Coordinator for Medical Tourism, said the launch was in line with the national vision of making Tanzania a preferred destination for specialized treatment.

The event also drew support from the private sector Mr Ibrahim Mitawi, Chief Executive Officer of Showtime Company, stressed the importance of collaboration in marketing Tanzania’s medical potential internationally.

With this launch, officials expect Tanzania to attract more regional and international patients while retaining local citizens who previously sought care abroad.
