ACT’s Othman promises jobs, clean water for Kojani Island

ZANZIBAR: ACT-Wazalendo presidential candidate, Mr Othman Masoud Othman, continued his campaign trail yesterday, with a visit to Kojani Island in North Pemba Region, where he met residents, listened to their concerns and urged them to support his bid for the Zanzibar presidency in the October 29th General Election.
Mr Othman pledged to tackle the water crisis facing the area if elected, promising concrete solutions to improve living standards.
Addressing residents of the area, Mr Othman vowed to ensure equal access to em- ployment for all young people, free from favouritism or discrimination.
“Government and private sector jobs will be open to everyone, regardless of political affiliation, religion, or background. Employment will be based on merit,” he said.

He also pledged to strengthen systems that support self-employment by investing in education, vocational training and affordable loans to help young people start their own businesses.
“It is time for Zanzibar to achieve self-reliance through the energy and talents of our youth,” he said.
Key promises from ACT-Wazalendo’s Zanzibar Manifesto include prioritising strong economic development in Zanzibar, with plans to expand opportunities, especially for youth, support for small businesses, agriculture, fisheries and tourism to generate jobs and income.
The party also promised to improve public services, enhance better health care and education services, making them more accessible, equitable and high quality.

It also promised to expanded access to clean water and water infrastructure for all communities, improve justice, governance and democratic reforms, by initiating constitutional reforms to strengthen checks and balances, more fairness in governance and enhancing rights and freedoms of citizens.
The party also promises reform of land policy, resource nationalism, ensuring that profits from resources benefit local citizens, increase investments in electricity, transport, water supply and public infrastructure to reach under served areas.
It also plans to improve tourism infrastructure, ports, roads and related amenities to support economic activity in Zanzibar.
