ARUSHA: THE Tanzania Urban and Town Development Project (TACTIC) has unveiled a 51bn/- budget to foot three major development projects to upgrade the Arusha City status.
This was stated by the Tanzania Rural Road Agency’s (TARURA) Arusha District Manager, Engineer Godfrey Bwire, while reporting on the status of implementation of projects funded by TACTIC in the Arusha City Council, which is among the cities benefiting from the project.
He said the TACTIC project in Arusha City is implementing the construction of 10.2km of roads, including Oljoro Road 1.45 km, Olasiti Road 3.96 km, and Ngoselotoni Road 4.8 km, where its implementation has reached 72 percent at a cost of 20.7bn/-.
Likewise, Engineer Bwire said that the project is implementing other projects for the construction of Kilombero Market, the construction of a new modern Bondeni City stand for regional buses which is being built in Murieti ward as well as improving the Kwa Mromboo barbecue area where a new market will be built in the area, adding that the construction of these projects has reached 6 percent and costs 30.6bn/-.
Adding, the Acting Director of Arusha City, Dr. Maduhu Nindwa, said that the Arusha City Council has received the projects with great joy because they have seen the great benefits before they occur to individuals up to the regional and national levels as well.
“We received these projects with great respect and appreciation for our government, reminding us that we need this infrastructure that will directly help promote trade, especially in the construction of Kilombero Market, Morombo Market, and the road to Bondeni City”, he explained.

Dr. Nindwa noted that the construction of road infrastructure will also help in other areas of social service delivery, especially education and health.
He said that in terms of education, there will be many passenger vehicles that will pass through these roads, so students will be easily transported and reach school on time, thus helping to raise the level of education in the City.
“In terms of health, we know that President Samia Suluhu Hassan established an emergency transportation system for mothers and children using community ambulances known as ‘m-mama’, the construction of these roads will help many people to take mothers with challenges from our streets and get them to hospitals to receive care, so you can see that these projects are aimed at reducing the deaths of pregnant mothers and infants”, he noted.
And the Chairman of Oloresho Street, Mr. James Stephano, said the construction of Oljoro Road will help restore businesses along the road that were closed due to the lack of customers who stopped using the road due to the poor condition of the road, but after the road was built, businesses have returned to his street.
