Dr Nchimbi sees an agro-economic fortune in the Simiyu Region

SIMIYU: THE Chama Cha Mapinduzi’s (CCM) running mate, Dr. Emmanuel Nchimbi, has requested residents of Simiyu Region to give the ruling party another 5-year term to enable its government to effectively boost the agro-economy in the region and the Lake Zone.

Dr Nchimbi told residents at Itilima District capital, Lagangabilili, today, September 2, 2025, that among the government’s priorities in a 2025-30 period is the irrigation sector as a means to increase the agriculture budget that meets the expectations of farmers across the country.

He emphasized that the government will ensure farming inputs reach farmers, particularly in Itilima District, which is a leading producer of cotton — a crop that has significantly contributed to the national economy for many years.

Additionally, Dr. Nchimbi said, beyond improving cotton production, the government will invest in better water project infrastructure to ensure that residents of Itilima do not rely solely on rainfall for their agricultural activities.
