Zuchu, Savara, Eddy Kenzo to headline CHAN grand finale
DAR ES SALAAM: THE Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that Tanzanian singer Zuhura Othman Soud, better known as Zuchu, will headline the entertainment line-up for the grand finale of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, Nairobi, today.
Joining her on the line-up are Kenya’s Savara and Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo.
The announcement was recently made across CAF’s official social media platforms, including Instagram, where the artists themselves also shared their excitement.
Zuchu, one of East Africa’s most prominent female musicians, continues to make waves with her signature blend of Bongo Flava and traditional taarab influences.
Known for chart-topping tracks such as ‘Sukari’, ‘Kwikwi’, ‘Mwambieni’, ‘Siendi’, ‘Honey’ and ‘Amanda’, she has amassed a strong following across the continent and recently became the most subscribed East African female artist on YouTube, with over four million subscribers.
“I am so thrilled to announce that I will be headlining the African Nations Championship Final this year. Happening in Nairobi, Kenya,” she posted on her Instagram.
Joining her on stage will be Savara Delvin Mudigi, best known as a member of the celebrated Kenyan Afro-pop band Sauti Sol. As a solo artist, Savara has carved a name for himself with a unique fusion of afrobeat, RnB and soulful sounds.
His solo work, including tracks such as ‘Balance’, ‘Good Morning’ and ‘Vibration’, showcases his versatility and commitment to authentic African storytelling through music.
In a brief post on his social media, Savara simply wrote, “See you on Saturday,” a nod to his hometown performance at a major continental sporting event.
Also featuring is Ugandan superstar Eddy Kenzo (Edrisa Kenzo Musuuza), a pioneer in afrobeat and dancehall-inspired East African pop. Known internationally for his breakout hit ‘Sitya Loss’, Kenzo has remained a household name across the region with popular songs such as ‘Tweyagale’, ‘Weekend’ and ‘Enjoyment’.
His music often reflects the vibrancy of Ugandan street culture and fuses upbeat rhythms with themes of hope and celebration. Over the years, Kenzo has earned acclaim not just for his music but also for representing Ugandan music on global stages, including a Grammy nomination.
