New Dodoma RAS demands professionalism

DODOMA: NEWLY appointed Dodoma Regional Administrative Secretary (RAS), Dr Khatibu Kazungu, has urged staff to uphold professionalism and adhere to government laws, regulations and procedures.
Speaking at his official welcoming ceremony in the capital, he emphasised the importance of safeguarding employees’ rights and treating all workers with respect.
“Let’s work with integrity and ensure employees receive their rights,” he stated.
“We must avoid discrimination and respect every worker, from cleaners to directors, as all of them play an important role in the Regional Secretariat.”
Before his appointment as Dodoma RAS, Dr Kazungu served in various government positions, including Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy and Regional Administrative Secretary for Kilimanjaro Region.
During the swearing-in ceremony, President Samia Suluhu Hassan directed Dr Kazungu and other newly sworn-in government leaders to uphold integrity, prioritise national interests and ensure effective oversight of key development projects as they assume their new responsibilities.
“Perform your duties with integrity and place the nation above personal interests,” the Head of State directed.
President Samia further urged the new leaders to work collaboratively with public servants and engage local communities in identifying and addressing challenges swiftly.

She also called on Regional Commissioners to play an active role in encouraging citizen participation in the 2025 General Election, stressing the importance of maintaining peace and stability throughout the process.
Apart from Dr Kazungu, others sworn in by the President included Mr Amos Makalla, appointed Regional Commissioner for Arusha; Dr Deo Mwapinga, appointed Ambassador; and Public Service Commission Commissioners Salama Aboud Twalib, Dr Laurean Ndumbaro and Hassan Kitenge.
Addressing Mr Makalla, President Samia commended his contributions to the ruling party Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), particularly his unifying role during his time as Ideology and Publicity Secretary.
She said his redeployment into public service was aimed at leveraging his experience for the benefit of citizens.
