Attorney General’s office improves laws to cope with Vision 205O

DODOMA: THE office of the Attorney General has begun to make improvements to various laws to facilitate the implementation of Vision 2050.

This was stated by the Attorney General, Hon. Hamza S. Johari, during the Staff Council Meeting of the Attorney General’s Office held in Dodoma.

Speaking at the opening of the Staff Council, the Attorney General and Chairman of the Staff Council of the Attorney General’s Office said that the Attorney General’s Office has embarked on a strategy to make improvements in the law to ensure that laws, policies, plans, objectives and various strategies as well as the criteria and indicators set for measuring the performance of public servants, are aligned with the goals and objectives of Vision 2050.

“Our office is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing the evaluation and review processes of parliamentary laws and local government authority by-laws to make necessary improvements and amendments to enable Public Institutions to participate fully in the implementation of Vision 2050 effectively and efficiently.”*Said Attorney General.

In addition, the Attorney General informed the Council Members that the Office of the Attorney General has successfully implemented its work plan for the Fiscal Year 2024/2025 by preparing 19 various Bills, translating 433 Principal Acts from English to Swahili, preparing two resolutions that were approved by the Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania, as well as completing the Amendment of 446 Principal Acts of the country and preparing the 2023 Amended Version of the Laws.

Furthermore, the Attorney General stated that a total of 3,436 National and International Agreements and 729 Memorandums of Understanding were reviewed, and approximately 4,151 requests for legal advice were received and processed.

In another step, the Attorney General reminded the Council Members and Staff of the Attorney General’s Office to work based on the ethics of public service and the four main principles, which are expertise/knowledge, creativity, integrity and transparency, to achieve the goals outlined in the Vision and Mission of the Attorney General’s Office.

“All Officers and Staff present here, it is our responsibility to ensure that the Mission of the Attorney General’s Office is implemented to achieve the Vision of the Attorney General’s Office.”

Initially, welcoming the Attorney General, the Deputy Attorney General and Vice Chairman of the Staff Council of the Attorney General’s Office, Hon. Samwel M. Maneno, said that the Council had met to review various plans implemented, being implemented, and expected to be implemented by the Attorney General’s Office.

“Hon. chairman, today we have met to review the plans we have put in place for the 2025/2026 financial year so that it can be consulted and perhaps given various instructions that are important to consider, involving issues related to the staff and the functioning of the office of the Attorney General.”Said the Deputy Attorney General.

For her part, the Chairperson of TUGHE, the Office of the Attorney General’s Office branch, Zella Rwemanyila, thanked the Leadership of the Office of the Attorney General for continuing to improve the interests and working environment for the staff of the Office of the Attorney General.

“The TUGHE Staff Association congratulates the leaders of the Office of the Attorney General for the efforts you are making and continue to make in ensuring that you are improving the working environment in our office,” she said.
