Pranthanz-A, Unity steal show at PBPS Night cricket

DAR ES SALAAM: THE PBPS 6-Side Night Cricket T ournament 2025 continued to thrill cricket lovers in Dar es Salaam with a string of nail-biting encounters from July 31 to August 1.
On August 1, Unity-A solidified their top spot in Group A with a 13-run win over HiTech-B, defending a total of 67/4.
The match was closely followed by Flashnet Cric. Pranthanz-A, who continued their impressive run by defeating DIT Gymkhana by 32 runs, thanks to a solid total of 66/6.
However, DIT Gymkhana bounced back swiftly later that evening, registering a narrow 2-wicket victory over Patel-B in a low-scoring thriller, chasing down 29 in just 5.4 overs.
Action on July 31 saw FLTC Dhosa Popin-A outplay Flashnet Cric. Pranthanz-B by 4 wickets. Flashnet Cric. Pranthanz-A also notched up a double victory day, beating HiTech-B by 19 runs and Patel-B by 6 wickets.
In another Group A clash, HiTech-B wrapped up a 4-wicket win over Patel-B, highlighting the increasingly competitive edge of the tournament.
After Friday’s matches, Group A standings show that Unity-A, Flashnet Cric. Pranthanz-A and FLTC Rankin Cars -B are locked at the top with 8 points each.
However, Unity-A led on Net Run Rate (NRR) of 5.6667. DIT Gymkhana have shown resilience with 4 wins from 6 matches and Patel-B remain winless after 6 outings.
In Group B, FLTC Dhosa Popin-A and unbeaten HiTech-A lead the group with 8 and 6 points respectively. Cricket Gunners and Flashnet Cric Pranthanz-B are in mid-table contention with room to climb.
Unity-B is yet to register a win after five matches. As the tournament nears its final rounds, the competition for semifinal slots intensifies, with top sides fighting not only for points but also for superior run rates.
After the weekend break, the action-packed Monday schedule features three Group A and B deciders.
Unity-A face FLTC Rakin Cars-B in a blockbuster clash between two Group A heavyweights, both unbeaten so far.
