NSSF unveils service reforms to the school, college owners’ body

MWANZA: The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has conducted a campaign to provide social security education and present various service improvements to its members during the General Meeting of the Tanzania Association of Women School and College Owners (TAWOSCO), held in Mwanza city.
Opening the meeting, the Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Professor Adolf Mkenda, acknowledged the significant contribution of TAWOSCO to the education sector and expressed gratitude to the Tanzanian President, Samia Suluhu Hassan, for the major reforms she has implemented in the education sector nationwide.
During the event, Prof. Mkenda also presented awards to employers who have consistently submitted their employees’ contributions to the NSSF on time.
This was a way to recognize and appreciate their integrity in fulfilling this important legal and social obligation.
Meanwhile, the Mwanza Regional Commissioner, Hon. Saidi Mtanda, praised the women of TAWOSCO for their substantial role in educational development.
He also thanked President Dr. Samia for investing in the Mwanza region, especially in improving educational infrastructure and social services.

Speaking on behalf of the NSSF Director General, the Fund’s Registration, Audit and Compliance Manager, Mr. Cosmas Sasi, revealed that so far 131 TAWOSCO members, equivalent to 66 percent have joined NSSF. Among them, 35 members consistently contribute their employees’ contributions on a monthly basis.
Mr. Sasi urged members with outstanding contribution arrears to visit NSSF offices to submit repayment plans, instead of waiting for legal action that could be avoided through close cooperation with the Fund.
Regarding service improvements, Mr. Sasi explained that the Fund has introduced digital platforms such as the NSSF Portal — a service gateway that includes personalized member and employer services — along with the NSSF App, WhatsApp Chatbot, USSD and SMS services. These platforms enable members and employers to access services more easily without the need to visit offices.
The TAWOSCO Vice Chairperson, Ms. Christa Rweyemamu, stated that the association comprises 195 members who serve 900,000 students and employ more than 5,000 people. She expressed gratitude to NSSF and other sponsors for their participation in providing important education during the meeting.
Some participants expressed satisfaction with the improvements in ICT services offered by NSSF, noting that these services have enabled them to access many services quickly and easily through their mobile phones, saving time and travel costs.
