Tanzanian professionals urged to embrace digital transformation for service delivery

ARUSHA: THE Acting Permanent Secretary in the President’s Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance, Mr. Xavier Daudi, has called on governance professionals in Tanzania to abandon outdated work practices and embrace technological transformation that aligns with the fast-paced changes taking place globally.
Speaking today, July 23, 2025, in Arusha at the opening of the Annual Conference of Human Resource and Governance Experts in the Public Service, Mr. Daudi emphasized the need for transformation in how public sector professionals approach their duties, especially in the face of evolving technology and modern service delivery demands.
“I want to strongly emphasize the importance of a new direction — and that requires a change in mindset. We must stop operating on business as usual. In many workplaces, especially among long-serving staff, you’ll often hear, ‘This is how we’ve always done things.’ But the world is changing rapidly. We must also change, adapt to the times, and ensure we execute our duties effectively to achieve our national goals,” said Daudi.

He further explained that the conference’s objective is not only to exchange knowledge, but also to build new capacities among HR and governance experts so they can become active agents of positive transformation within the public service system.
The theme of the conference is: “A New Direction for Human Resource Management and Governance Professionals in Driving Change in Line with Technological Transformation to Improve Service Delivery to Citizens.”
The gathering is expected to provide participants with a platform to deeply discuss how to enhance systems of human resource management and governance in order to increase efficiency, accountability, and innovation across the public service.
