Calm down, Simba urge fans
DAR ES SALAAM: SIMBA SC have urged their supporters and fans to be calm after their team going four seasons without winning the Premier League trophy, as their archrivals – Young Africans emerged champions in the same stints.
Simba Head of Communications, Ahmed Ally, spoke out following the situation the club are facing, urging fans to avoid a blame-game and instead embrace collective responsibility.
In a candid address to reporters, Ally acknowledged the disappointment surrounding the team’s performance this season, which once again saddened Simba supporters, especially as arch-rivals Yanga SC emerged as champions.
He stressed the need for unity and introspection rather than finger-pointing.
“This is not the time to point fingers at one person,” he said.
“We must all take responsibility—players, coaches, management and even us in leadership. It’s not about blaming one official or one player. If we want to bounce back stronger next season, we need to examine where we went wrong as a group.”
Once a dominant force in Tanzanian football, Simba’s extended title drought has tested the patience of their passionate supporters, many of whom have taken to social media calling for sweeping changes in both leadership and the technical bench.
Ally also cautioned against making emotional or reactionary decisions, urging a strategic approach moving forward.
“Our fans have every right to feel disappointed,” he admitted.
“But emotional decisions and scapegoating won’t take us back to the top. What we need is critical analysis and strategic planning. Let’s sit down, assess our performance thoroughly, and correct our mistakes.”
Yanga’s sustained dominance has intensified pressure on Simba, amplifying expectations for a turnaround. Yet Ally remains hopeful, calling on supporters to remain loyal and focused on rebuilding with a long-term vision.
