President lifts Tanzania globally – PM

DODOMA: PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa has lauded President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan’s leadership for setting Tanzania on a new path of inclusive development, diplomacy and national cohesion through the implementation of the 4Rs philosophy.
In his speech while moving a motion to conclude the activities of the 19th Meeting of the 12th Parliament yesterday, Premier Majaliwa said that the 4Rs (Reconciliation, Resilience, Reforms and Rebuilding), have not only strengthened Tanzania’s internal unity, justice and democratic participation but have also opened diplomatic and economic doors to the global stage.
“This philosophy has shaped a more resilient, fair and forward-looking nation – one that values unity and prioritises sustainable progress,” said Mr Majaliwa.
According to the Prime Minister, under President Samia’s policy direction, Tanzania has taken part in key international forums aimed at global cooperation and problem-solving.
“Among them was Tanzania’s active participation in the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP 29) on Climate Change,” said PM Majaliwa.
On diplomatic gains, Premier Majaliwa highlighted Tanzania’s role in hosting major international gatherings such as the Africa Energy Summit 2025 and the Africa Food Systems Summit (AGRF) 2023, both of which boosted the country’s profile as a regional hub for dialogue on energy and food security.
“These platforms gave Tanzania an opportunity to amplify its voice on continental economic and policy matters,” he insisted.
Prime Minister Majaliwa also highlighted the importance of strategic international visits by national leaders and high level receptions for foreign dignitaries. He noted that these engagements have produced tangible results, including the signing of agreements for development projects in key sectors.
“One notable example is the tripartite agreement between China, Zambia and Tanzania to revitalise the TAZARA railway, enhancing regional rail services and trade,” recalled Mr Majaliwa.
The PM added that President Samia’s diplomatic credentials were further elevated when she assumed the chairpersonship of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Organ on Politics, Defence and Security.
According to the Premier, during President Samia’s tenure, Tanzania played a central role in monitoring democratic elections in Botswana, Mauritius, Mozambique and Namibia, underlining the country’s commitment to peace and good governance in the region.
Mr Majaliwa said the country’s growing influence on the international stage has also been reflected in the election of Tanzanians to prominent leadership roles in regional and global organisations.
Giving examples, the PM said Dr Ntuli Angyelile Kapologwe was appointed Director General of the East, Central and Southern Africa Health Community, while Prof Mohamed Janabi was named Regional Director for the World Health Organisation (WHO) in Africa.
“These are clear signs of Tanzania’s renewed global image and the recognition of its leadership capacity,” the Prime Minister noted.
Meanwhile, Primier Majaliwa has called on officials at all levels of the public service to prioritise the key focus areas outlined in the government budget for the 2025/2026 financial year, recently approved by the National Assembly.
He further directed that all ongoing projects be completed promptly alongside fulfilling the promises made by leaders in their respective constituencies.
Mr Majaliwa also commended heads of institutions, public servants and the private sector for their dedication and strong cooperation in successfully implementing government initiatives.
“Your efforts have contributed significantly to the achievements across various sectors, including economic and social development,” he stated.
He also praised citizens for their active participation in wealth creation activities.
“Our country’s economy has remained resilient throughout. I am confident that your loyalty to the sixth-phase government has been a key driver of your commitment. I acknowledge your patriotism, unity and strong solidarity, which have enabled the government to fulfil its responsibilities,” the Prime Minister added.

Regarding the upcoming General Election scheduled for October this year, Mr Majaliwa urged Tanzanians to protect and uphold the values of peace and stability before, during and after the elections.
“The government will ensure strict adherence to the Constitution, laws and established procedures to guarantee that every eligible citizen can exercise their constitutional right to vote and stand for election without any hindrance,” he emphasised.
