TBS, SICPA Tanzania partner to enhance standardisation, consumer protection

THE Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) in collaboration with the Zanzibar Bureau of Standards (ZBS), has organised the 72nd General Assembly and Council Meetings of the African Organisation for Standardisation (ARSO), held from 23rd to 28th June 2025 in Zanzibar.
This prestigious event have brought together key stakeholders, industry leaders, and decision makers from across the continent to discuss and shape the future of standardisation in Africa.
At the event, TBS has invited various stakeholders and its business partner SICPA Tanzania to showcase their mutual commitment towards industry growth, trade and consumer protection, as well as to promote the Tanzanian government’s progress in safeguarding tax revenue and in the field of standards and quality control.
Managing Director of the SICPA Tanzania said their company shares TBS’ goal of advancing standardisation, security and traceability through innovative and cutting-edge technology solutions.

With more than 150 employees in the country all being Tanzanians, SICPA Tanzania is partnering with TBS on the Fuel Integrity Solution to ensure fuel quality, protect tax revenues and reduce fraud.
The company also helps Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) meet its ambitious tax revenue targets, strengthen industry compliance and combat illicit trade through the Electronic Tax Stamp (ETS) system.
As a technology leader, SICPA and its conformity solutions enable governments to protect products subject to specific quality and safety standards, identify non-compliant and counterfeit products, raise consumer awareness and strengthen consumer confidence in government standards and labels, moreover it enables reducing unfair competition, increase the competitiveness of legitimate producers and importers, improve local authorities’ market surveillance and enforcement capabilities, and ensure product safety and authenticity through traceability.
