73 families rendered homeless in Muleba

KAGERA: RAIN that was accompanied by strong wind on Monday left about 73 families homeless in Muleba District’s Kimbugu Village.
Councillor for Kimbugu, Eliud Mkwenda explained that the rain started at around 12.00 noon and lasted for two hours, where eleven houses were totally damaged rendering 73 families homeless. Several hectares of crops, including bananas, beans, maize and coffee were also destroyed.

“The affected families are temporarily being sheltered at their relatives’ homes and need urgent assistance, including food,” he said.
However, there was no casualties, he said.
