PEOPLE in Rukwa region are breathing a sigh of relief after the Tanzania Roads Agency (TANROADS) initiated a move aimed at removing 68 humps of the road section stretching from Makutano to round about area in Sumbawanga Municipality, Rukwa Region at the cost of 600m/-.
The 120 kilommetres section of road from Makutano bordering Rukwa and Songwe region, which has 116 humps is part of Tunduma-Sumbawanga Highway that was rehabilitated in 2013 at tarmac level to ease transport woes.
The Rukwa region TANROADS in charge of construction and rehabilitation unit, Engineer Susan Lucas said the authority has floated a tender in effort to get a qualified firm that will undertake the project as per contractual agreement.
“The undertaking of the project is scheduled to be accomplished in four months. The contracted firm will remove the humps and rehabilitate the areas,” she added.
