DODOMA: THE Tanzanian Government has announced significant progress in the construction of the Government City project at Mtumba in Dodoma, with ministry buildings now 89.7 percent complete.
Delivering the update in Parliament today, April 8, 2025, Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa said 34 buildings are under construction—24 for government ministries and 10 for various government institutions.
He explained that the project aims to improve the efficiency of public service delivery by bringing government leaders together in one centralized location, thereby enhancing coordination of government operations.

In addition to the ministry buildings, the Prime Minister noted that the government has completed the construction of the Ministry of Defence and National Service headquarters, as well as the Tanzania People’s Defence Force (TPDF) Headquarters in the Kikombo area.
“This project, which costs 534.4bn/-, will not only boost administrative efficiency once completed but also enhance the aesthetic appeal of Dodoma City and become a new tourist attraction,” said Prime Minister Majaliwa.
