DAR ES SALAAM: Simba Queens have become the first team to clinch the Women’s Community Shield title after edging out JKT Queens 5-4 on post-match penalties.
The tense game at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday evening produced a 1-1 score in normal period of play, hence attracting spot-kicks to split the duo.
JKT Queens scored first in the 16th minute via Stumai Athumani before a superb equalisation by Damai Bobo who put Simba Queens back in the contest.
In an early match, Yanga Princess outclassed Fountain Gate Princess 4-2 in post-match penalties in a third-place finish encounter.
Yanga Princess netted all their four penalties via Precious Onyinyechi, Safiatu Salifu, Cuta Ninita and Diana Andrey
For Fountain Gate Princess, they converted through Aquila Gaspar and Asnath Ubamba while Pauledge Mupeti and Zawadi Hamisi missed theirs.

Meanwhile, the much-awaited Women’s Premier League is set to kick-off from December 20th with four fixtures brightening the opening day at four venues.
JKT Queens will begin their title defense away as they face Bunda Queens at Karume Stadium while Simba Queens host Ceasiaa Queens at TFF Center in Kigamboni.
Also, on the same day, Alliance Girls take on Geita Gold Queens at Nyamagana Stadium whereas Fountain Gate Princess host Amani Queens at Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma.
On December 21st, one fixture unfolds at Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma as Baobao Queens welcome Yanga Princess.
