Bakwata: Idd-ul-Fitr to be celebrated on Friday

THIS year’s Idd-Al-Fitr is expected to fall on April 21st or 22nd, the National Muslim Council (Bakwata) has announced.

The event depends on the sighting of the moon, according to a statement signed by Mufti Abubakar Zubeir bin Ally.

A Bakwata statement quoted Mufti Zubeir as saying prayers at the national level would be held in Dar es Salaam, where the guest of honour will be President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

The statement noted that Eid prayers will be offered at the King’s Mosque Mohamed VI Bakwata Headquarters Kinondoni from 7.30 am followed by the Eid Council which will be held at Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC) starting at 8.30 pm, adding that Muslims are invited and settle at the hall before the arrival of the guest of honour.

“On behalf of Mufti of Tanzania Sheikh Abubakar Zubeir and on behalf of Bakwata, I wish all Muslims and all citizens in general a good preparation for the holiday,” the statement added

Eid Al-Fitr is the religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide because it marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan.
