- Los Angeles wildfires approach Hollywood sign, with Sunset Boulevard ‘in ruins’
LOS ANGELES: The Eaton Fire has claimed five lives and scorched over 10,600 acres in California, as authorities continue to battle raging wildfires across Los Angeles.
High winds, dry conditions, and low water pressure have made controlling the intense blazes particularly challenging. Currently, six wildfires are burning in the area, with the two largest — Eaton and Palisades — remaining completely uncontained, according to officials.
Evacuation orders have forced over 137,000 residents to flee their homes as the fires wreak havoc across the city.
