NBC Dodoma Marathon sponsors reaffirm community support

DAR ES SALAAM: Sponsors of the NBC Dodoma Marathon have reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the event, organised by the National Bank of Commerce (NBC), in line with its goals of community responsibility, motivation, and participant enjoyment.

During a weekend visit to Dar es Salaam, NBC Chief Financial Officer Mr Rayson Foya met with representatives from GSM Group, Sanlam Insurance, Vodacom Tanzania, and Jubilee Allianz Tanzania to present official marathon kits and jerseys.

Here, he was accompanied by NBC’s Head of Communications and Public Relations, Mr Godwin Semunyu, and the Chairperson of the NBC Dodoma Marathon Organising Committee, Ms Tatiana Masimba. The visit also served to recognise and appreciate the sponsors’ contributions ahead of the July 27 marathon in Dodoma.

At Sanlam Insurance, Mr Foya and his delegation presented kits to Managing Director Mr Julius Magabe and his team. The NBC delegation then visited GSM Group, received by Managing Director Mr Gharib Said Mohamed, followed by meetings with Jubilee Allianz Managing Director Mr Jaideep Goel, and Vodacom Tanzania’s Business Director Mr Nguvu Kamando.

“The NBC Dodoma Marathon transcends the realm of a mere sporting event; it stands as a beacon of hope for the Tanzanian people. The engagement of our stakeholders, both those we visited and those we plan to visit to deliver kits has been critical in fostering this important initiative,” said Mr Foya. “Stakeholder engagement is key to driving this impactful initiative.”

He expressed gratitude for the sponsors’ support and emphasised the importance of collaboration in addressing community challenges, particularly in healthcare.

The marathon’s goals include supporting the fight against cervical cancer, funding midwifery programs to train 200 additional midwives, and launching an initiative to educate 100 nurses in autism care for children across Tanzania.

Sponsors praised the quality and creativity of the marathon kits and commended NBC’s strong organization, which continues to attract thousands of participants from Tanzania and abroad.

“GSM Group is proud to partner with NBC in advancing this noble cause. Collaborative efforts are essential to addressing societal challenges. Through our expertise and resources, we aim to increase our impact,” said Engineer Hersi Said, GSM Group’s Investment Director. The company, through GSM Beverages, will supply water and soft drinks during the event.

GSM Foundation, the group’s philanthropic arm, has also aligned with the marathon’s three main objectives.
