That was reached after discussions between Zanzibar’s President, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, and the Governor of Moroni, Comoros, Mr. Ibrahim Mzee.
The two leaders underscored the importance of revitalizing trade and collaboration between the islands, aimed at fostering mutual growth, and reinforcing their longstanding relationship.

He stressed that strengthening these ties would bring significant benefits to both nations.
President Mwinyi urged the Comorian delegation to resume business exchanges, encouraging them to revive the practice of sending business delegations to Zanzibar to explore trade and investment opportunities- a tradition that had been successful in previous years.
He also highlighted the importance of reestablishing maritime transport between the two regions, noting that improved sea links would facilitate trade and social interaction and, in turn, benefit citizens on both sides.
In addition to trade, President Mwinyi proposed an educational exchange initiative, suggesting that Zanzibar could send Kisahili teachers to the Comoros or welcome Comorian students to Zanzibar for language learning programs.
He emphasized that the linguistic similarities between the two nations would make such exchanges easy to implement and mutually beneficial.
Governor Ibrahim Mzee praised Zanzibar’s rapid development and reforms, stating that the Comoros could learn valuable lessons from Zanzibar’s progress.
He also extended an invitation to President Mwinyi to visit Ngazidja Island to share experiences and further strengthen ties between the two nations.
This renewed cooperation is expected to boost economic growth and reinforce regional diplomacy, bringing Zanzibar and the Comoros closer in both trade and cultural exchange.
