He confirmed that the ministry has authorised the committee to coordinate the conferences, which will take place from November this year until March next year.

“Our committee has received permission from the ministry to conduct these conferences across all 31 regions. The aim is to raise awareness and understanding of the policy among youth, helping them recognise how they can benefit from various opportunities, including group loans,” he explained.

In addition to the conferences, the committee plans to utilise sports events and other youth gatherings to disseminate information.

The conferences will also provide a platform for discussing the formation of youth councils. The ten targeted regions include Dar es Salaam, Tanga, Dodoma, Kilimanjaro, Mwanza, Mbeya, Morogoro, Iringa, Arusha and the Coast Region, with approximately nine million youths expected to be reached in the first phase.

Ms Farida Kongoi, Chairperson of the Committee, highlighted several objectives of the policy, including improving youth education to enhance income opportunities, strengthening digital education, expanding employment options through loans and fostering creativity and innovation based on individual talents.

She noted that the new policy also addresses alternative energy sources, which were not included in the 2007 Youth Policy.

Mr Godfrey Kizito, the Committee’s Lawyer, stated that the conferences will also review various laws, including the National Constitution and Parliamentary Laws, to assess their alignment with youth development.

During the launch of the policy on August 12 of this year, Mr Ridhiwan Kikwete, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office (Labour, Youths, Employment and Persons with Disabilities), emphasised the government’s recognition of the vital role young people play in development.

He stated that the policy aims to empower youths and promote the use of technology to foster an inclusive digital economy.

A key feature of the policy is the establishment of the National Youth Council, which will serve as a platform for discussing youth challenges and exploring potential solutions.
