Young Africans fly to SA for 2nd leg quarter-final match against Sundowns

DAR ES SALAAM: Young Africans have departed today en-route to South Africa to face Mamelodi Sundowns in the return leg quarter-final match of CAF Champions League (CAF CL) on Friday.

The game is pegged at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria where the overall winner will earn a ticket of advancing into the semi-finals.

In their first leg duel at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Saturday, the match elapsed in stalemate.

Among those traveling with the team are five fans who won special tickets to fly alongside the players.

Meanwhile, 48 supporters of the club left the country on Monday to South Africa by road with their trip fully funded by government through the Ministry for Culture, Arts and Sports.

The Ministry’s Deputy Minister Hamis Mwinjuma on Monday revealed that government provided 40.8m/- to cover their trip to and from South Africa.

The club’s president Hersi Said thanked government for accepting their request to render a helping hand in transporting the fans.
