Yas, EACLC to build first digital business hub

DAR ES SALAAM: YAS Tanzania and the East Africa Commercial and Logistics Centre (EACLC) have signed a deal to establish the country’s first fully digital business hub in Ubungo, Dar es Salaam.
The transformative project is set to modernise the country’s trade and logistics landscape.
The CEO of Yas, Mr Pierre Bacara said the project will serve as a one-stop centre for trade and logistics, hosting customs, banks, shipping companies and other key service providers.
“The signing marks a major step in advancing Tanzania’s digital infrastructure, with Yas reaffirming its commitment to connect people and businesses nationwide,” he said.
The centre, spanning 75,000 square meters over four floors, will be one of the country’s largest, featuring over 2,000 business spaces and 1,000 parking bays.
Yas, backed by the country’s widest 4G coverage and fastest 5G network, will power the new hub’s smart systems and digital services, supporting its role as a modern, integrated trade and logistics centre.
“Our investment of over 1.0bn/- will ensure strong mobile and fiber connectivity across the hub, enabling real-time operations for merchants, logistics firms and entrepreneurs. We’re building a reliable digital backbone that businesses and investors can trust,” Mr Bacara said.

Under the partnership, EACLC will lead construction and operations, while Yas will provide high-speed connectivity and integrated mobile money and digital payment services throughout the complex.
The EACLC Managing Director Cathy Wang said the phased rollout will start with the first two floors next week, with full digital coverage expected by early next year.
“We’re creating a smart business community, not just a centre. Partnering with Yas gives us the tools and expertise to make this a regional hub of digital commerce,” she said.
The initiative shows how telecom, technology and finance can drive economic growth and position the country as a regional digital leader.
Beyond telecom infrastructure, the hub will host a fintech ecosystem powered by Yas, enabling tenants to handle rent, payroll, invoicing and supplier payments digitally.
The Mixx by Yas CEO, Ms Angelica Pesha, said that the partnership will enable simpler, faster and cashless business.
And, Mixx by Yas will also provide onboarding, training, and support to ensure all users can confidently use the digital tools.
