Yanga set Club Africain on target

YOUNG Africans said all precautions have been considered ahead of their  CAF Confederation Cup’s play- off  match against Club Africain of Tunisia at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam today.

After today’s clash, the two teams will play a return leg tie in Tunisia on Wednesday next week in the match that will decide who deserves a ticket to play in the tournament’s group stage.

Yanga are representing the country in the Confederation Cup after failing to make a breakthrough in the last 16 of CAF Champions League after the 2-1 aggregate loss to Al Hilal of Sudan.

As such; this is the only chance for them to make it big on the international scene bearing in mind that they have a quality squad capable of driving them further ahead.

Already, the Jangwani Street giants stated that they want to make it to the group stage and what happens thereafter will be a bonus to them.

“We have done our preparations well and we are just waiting to see what is going to transpire after the normal period of play, but we are hopeful to generate positive results,” said Yanga Media and Communications Manager Ally Kamwe.

He added: “We have had a chance to assess our opponents and they are a team which utilises their home ground advantage. In away matches, they fight hard to earn a draw or if they lose, they do not concede many goals as they bank their hopes in the return leg.”

Moreover, Kamwe observed that the most important ingredient to shine in international matches is to make full use of home venue by stamping a convincing victory that will simplify the return match.

“They are also wary about us knowing that they are facing a club with quality players which has played 45 league fixtures without a defeat hence it is not going to be an easy match as most people are predicting,” narrated him.

He then seized the platform to call  Yanga supporters to fill the 60,000- capacity stadium to cheer their team saying players on the field will be energised seeing the arena packed to capacity.

In the same token, Simba through its Media and Communications Manager Ahmed Ally have wished Yanga the best of luck in today’s duel saying if they prepared well, they are going to win.

“Football is all about preparations… for us we have been doing well in international contests because we engage in ample preparations and we also accommodate good players with curiosity to shine in CAF Interclub games,” he said.
