Yanga seek to extend lead vs Geita today
YOUNG Africans seek to seal a a five-point lead at the summit of the NBC Premier League table they play against Geita Gold at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza today.
Both teams approach the game with heads up after winning their previous matches as Yanga defeated KMC 1-0 while Geita Gold claimed a 2-1 victory over Ruvu Shooting at Uhuru Stadium.
Former Yanga player Saido Ntibanzokiza netted the winning goal to enable his current employer cherish maximum points as they eye to continue doing well in the league.
It is the first time for Ntibanzokiza to face his former employers in the league who are searching to create a new record of playing 45 league games without conceding defeat.
As such, it is likely going to be a competitive meeting between them basing on the fact that Geita Gold have also turned the corner as they look lethal in the unfolding campaign.
Under the tutelage of Felix Minziro, Geita Gold have always been a troubling side whenever playing against Yanga and it is usually a tough clash when they go head to head.
For Yanga, who now enjoy a two-point lead at the helm of the log, are also going to use the match as part of drills before facing Club Africain of Tunisia in the second preliminary round of CAF Confederation Cup encounter.
The two teams face each other on Wednesday at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in the city for the first leg encounter before travelling to Tunisia to finish off the business with the overall winner sliding into the group stage of the confederation cup.
The Jangwani street giants have already indicated that they aim to reach the group stage of the Confederation Cup hence they have two boundaries to cross before reaching the Promised Land.
