DAR ES SALAAM: YOUNG Africans coach Miguel Gamondi and Ihefu trainer Mecky Mexime said they are looking forward to grabbing maximum points as they interface at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam, today.

The solo Premier League match of the day attracts the current league leaders Yanga who play their 18th fixture versus eighth placed Ihefu who have bagged 23 points in 19 games.

A win by the hosts will see them opening a 5-point gap at the summit of the table, where the second placed Azam have claimed 44 points from 20 league matches.

“To us, every game is important and we need to win against them (Ihefu) though we are aware that it will not be an easy match as they have good players, who compete well in league games. “They are the only team that defeated us this season and I think this is the right moment for us to make a revenge…players are aware about that so as the technical bench…we will try to win the match tomorrow (today),” he said.

Moreover, Gamondi added that he was personally not impressed with the way they played against Ihefu in the first round match of the season that saw his side conceding a 2-1 defeat.

“I know that even Yanga fans were not happy with the outcome and I urge them to come in big number to rally behind us as their presence means a lot for the success of the team,” he said.

Again, Gamondi revealed that confidence among his players is now high than ever before and are scoring more goals a thing he said is an added advantage for their season’s championship race.

His counterpart, Mexime admitted that facing Yanga is always a difficult match but insisted that they have come to search for maximum three points to keep ascending the log.

“We have trained according to their quality, we analysed their previous games and observed their strengths and weaknesses…I am hopeful that we are better placed to win the match tomorrow (today),” he said.

Additionally, Mexime highlighted that Ihefu being the only side to outclass Yanga this season makes today’s match very tough and entertaining to those who will find time to watch the match.

“Even Yanga themselves will approach the game cautiously because they did not expect to lose when the two teams met before… as such, this tells it all how the encounter will look like,” said him.

However, in both matches that Yanga lost to Ihefu at their former venue Southern Highland Estates Stadium in Mbarali Mbeya, the team was under the tutelage of Zuberi Katwila who now coaches Mtibwa Sugar.
