Yanga, Azam square up in titanic battle

ALL eyes will be on Young Africans and Azam FC as they face off in a thrilling Mainland Premier League clash at the Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam today.
During the pre-match press conference, each coach highlighted beliefs in their sides, stressing to put on a tremendous display.
Yanga Head Coach, Miguel Gamondi, acknowledged the historic intensity of matches against Azam, but insisted that his side will win.
“These matches are always tough, but we are prepared to fight for the points that will keep us at the top. Our performance in these high stakes matches speaks volumes and I hope we can deliver again today,” the Argentine said.
He also shared a personal note, highlighting his longstanding friendship with Azam’s Head Coach, Rachid Taoussi:
“This is a special moment for me, as I have known Rachid for 25 years. It adds another layer of significance to the match,” he noted. On the other side, Taoussi expressed deep respect for Yanga, recognising the challenge ahead.
“We know this will not be an easy game, but we are fully prepared. A win is crucial for us as we aim for a top-ranking position in the league,” he remarked.
Taoussi has been impressed with how quickly his players have adapted to his tactical philosophy, noting, “It’s amazing to work with such talented individuals who embrace my style so quickly,” he noted.
As the teams prepare to clash, Yanga enter the match with an impressive record, having gone eight games without conceding a goal. Currently sitting at the top of the league table with 24 points, they look forward to maintaining their dominance.
Meanwhile, Azam FC sit in fourth place with 18 points, having recorded six wins, one draw and one defeat in their nine matches played.
