Victories delight Simba, Yanga

DAR ES SALAAM: THE head coaches of Dar es Salaam rivals; Fadlu Davids of Simba and Miguel Gamondi of Young Africans, expressed their satisfaction following crucial victories that have strengthened their positions in the league standings.

Both teams faced intense challenges in Tuesday’s encounters, with Simba securing a narrow 1-0 win against Prisons at Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya. Davids praised his players for their resilience in overcoming a difficult pitch, emphasising the importance of securing all three points.

“The only important thing is that we took all three points, despite the challenges,” he stated.

Davids noted the toll of an exhausting schedule, with players like Mohamed Hussein and Kibu Denis showing signs of fatigue after consistent play.

“The most crucial aspect is that we secured all three points. I am pleased with how my players handled this tough encounter,” he commented.

Gamondi also spoke on team rotation, highlighting the impressive performances of previously benched players.

“As a coach, I have to give every player a chance. Today (the day before yesterday), I’m thrilled to see those who stepped up and showcased their abilities,” he said.

In the clash between JKT Tanzania and Yanga that ended 2-0 in favour of Yanga at Azam Complex Stadium, Gamondi expressed pride in his team’s performance despite missed opportunities.

“The most crucial aspect is securing all three points against a formidable opponent,” he remarked, highlighting the success of previously benched players in stepping up.

Meanwhile, Tanzania Prisons’ Coach, Mbwana Makata, pointed to a costly mistake by their goalkeeper that led to Simba’s decisive goal, scored by Che Fondoh Malone in the fifth minute who capitalised well free kick by goalkeeper Mussa Mbise.

Despite suffering a previous 2-0 defeat to Azam FC, Makata said was relieved as his team has shown improvement.

“Our tactical approach was solid and we managed to close down spaces effectively, limiting Simba’s scoring opportunities,” he stated.

JKT Tanzania Head Coach, Ahmad Ally, commended his team’s resilience, particularly after a red card in the second half to JKT Tanzania’s goalkeeper, Denis Richard.

“I’m proud of how my players executed my game plan against a strong Yanga team. They demonstrated solid and compact performance,” he noted.

As it stands, Young Africans are second in the league with 18 points from six matches, while Simba follows in third with 16 points from seven games.
