KILIMANJARO: UCHUMI Commercial Bank (UCB) has successfully sold 103 agricultural insurance policies since launching its Bancassurance unit in the last three years.
This positive development follows educational efforts that have reached over 500 individuals across more than 20 groups in Kilimanjaro.
UCB Bancassurance Officer Mr Denis Urio said recently during the Kilimanjaro Farmers’ and Herders Network (MVIWAKI) 17th Annual General Meeting (AGM) that the unit was established in 2021 to provide all insurance covers.
“The agricultural risk insurance product was initiated in response to the devastating impact on the agricultural sector which can be caused by floods, drought, and damage to crops caused by wildlife or in the case livestock die for lack of feeds during drought,” he said.
