UAUT calls for increased investment in technology education

DAR ES SALAAM: IT has been stated that, in order to keep pace with the rapid changes in technology globally, it is important to continue investing in professionals and strengthening collaboration between the government and the private sector so as to increase investment in the education sector particularly in technology-related fields and thereby increase the number of technology experts.

The call was made today by the Chairperson of the Board of the United African University of Tanzania (UAUT), Prof Rwekaza Mukandala, during the university’s 10th graduation ceremony. He said that, given the direction the world is taking, it is important to work together to ensure that more technology professionals are produced in the country.

On his part, the Vice Chancellor of UAUT, Prof Sung Kim, said the university plans to invest approximately three million US dollars in building technological skills among its lecturers and students, with the aim of increasing the number of professionals in the sector.

Meanwhile, graduates of the university, Godlisten Salum and Josepha Josephat, said the education they have received will serve as a catalyst for their own development and that of the wider community around them, so as to bring positive impact.
