U-20 ladies hit four past Angola

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA U-20 Women’s National Team launched their 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualification campaign with a commanding 4–0 victory over Angola at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam yesterday.
From the opening whistle, the home side pressed high and pinned Angola deep in their own half.
The breakthrough came in the 21st minute when Diana William’s surging run through the middle drew a foul from Merly Guimarães inside the box.
Winfrida Gerald converted the resulting penalty with a composed strike into the top corner. Six minutes later, Tanzania doubled the lead.
Hasnath Ubamba intercepted a loose pass in midfield and released Jamila Rajabu, who threaded a quick ball to Winfrida.
She controlled, glided past her marker and slotted low past Angolan goalkeeper, Maria Muecalia for her second of the afternoon.

Angola’s best chance came in the 31st minute when Maria Vieira’s free kick rattled the crossbar, but Zulfa Makau kept Tanzania’s goal intact with solid saves throughout. Tanzania resumed dominance after the break.
In the 54th minute, Hasnath curled a superb free kick beyond Muecalia to make it 3–0, before sealing the victory with another set-piece later on — her second of the match and Tanzania’s fourth.
The emphatic win puts the Tanzanian side in a commanding position ahead of the return leg in Angola this Saturday.
A draw, or another victory, will see them progress to the next round of qualifiers.
