TZ referees appointed for AFCON Qualifiers
THE Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed four Tanzanian referees to officiate the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match between Equatorial Guinea and Liberia at Malabo Stadium on October 11th.
The refereeing team includes Ahmed Arajiga, Mohamed Mkono, Kassim Mpanga and Ramadhani Kayoko, who will interpret the 17 laws of the game.
This announcement was made via the verified Instagram account of the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) yesterday.
Additionally, TFF Administrative Committee member Khalid Abdallah has been designated as the match commissioner for the AFCON qualifiers match between Kenya and Cameroon on October 14th.
The third and fourth rounds of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers will take place from October 7th to 15th, as national teams compete for crucial points.
The national team, Taifa Stars will play their third qualifier away against DR Congo on October 6th, followed by a home match at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on October 14th.

These back-to-back games are vital for Tanzania’s chances of qualifying for next year’s AFCON finals in Morocco. Currently, Taifa Stars have one win (2-1) against Guinea and a scoreless draw with Ethiopia, placing them second in Group H with 4 points.
DR Congo leads the group with 6 points, while Ethiopia sits third with 1 point. Guinea is at the bottom, having lost both of their matches.
Tanzania aims to secure a record fourth qualification for the AFCON finals, having already qualified for the 2027 edition as hosts alongside Kenya and Uganda.
