TZ envoys in CAF hailed, alerted

THE government has encouraged Tanzania envoys in CAF Interclub tournaments to work hard in order to reach the desired goals and put the country on the global map.

The Minister for Culture, Arts and Sports Mohamed Mchengerwa made the call over the weekend while addressing Simba players immediately after winning their CAF Champions League return leg match against Nyasa Big Bullets at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in the city.

Simba marched into the first round of the contest with an aggregate 4-0 triumph over their opponents and now they will face Primeiro de Agosto of Angola in their next fixture.

At the same time, Young Africans who also accelerated into the first round of the Champions League with a massive 9-0 aggregate victory over Zalan FC have booked a date against Al Hilal of Sudan.

According to the schedule, Yanga will host Al Hilal at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on October 8th before playing the return leg in Sudan on October 15th this year. For Simba, they will kickoff their campaign away in Angola by facing Primerio de Agosto on October 8th before welcoming them at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in the city on October 15th.

“Let me take this opportunity to thank you… President Samia Suluhu Hassan is closely following results stamped by our flag carrier teams in international matches. “On her behalf, I congratulate you… for us who were watching the ball, we did not want it to end because of the good performance you showcased.

You have really sacrificed a lot for this victory. “This shows that our country has made massive achievements especially in international levels. We have no reason why we should fail to do well in these CAF Interclub games, you should continue with this positive attitude in all your next encounters. “I believe that you have potential…if you choose to reach far, you can achieve it without any problems. Moreover, you have vast experience in international matches to excel,” said Mchengerwa.

He added that Tanzania football is being followed by many people around the world including European nations saying that should be a prerequisite for domestic players to work hard.
