TUGHE touts for the election of leaders who represent the interests of workers.

KIBAHA: THE Tanzania Government and Health Employees Association (TUGHE) has called on workers in the country to participate fully in the upcoming General Elections on October 29, 2025, by electing leaders who will manage and protect the interests of workers.
The call was made by the Secretary General of TUGHE, Hery Mkunda, who is also the Secretary General of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Tanzania, when he officiated the opening of the Working Session of the Chairmen and Secretaries of TUGHE Branches in the Dar es Salaam Region in Kibaha, Coast Region.
“On General Elections Day, let us go out and participate because it is our Constitutional right and we must ensure that we use this right well by electing leaders who will manage and protect the interests of all Tanzanian workers,” insisted Mr Mkunda
Additionally, Mr Mkunda thanked the government for continuing to address various challenges faced by civil servants, including the promotion of ranks and grades for public servants, which had been suspended since 2016.
“Increase in the Minimum Wage for Private and Public Sector Servants, as well as an increase in Maternity Leave Days for Workers who give birth to young children.
The TUGHE Secretary General also used the meeting to advise all TUGHE Branch Leaders nationwide to ensure that they follow the requirements of the association’s constitution by ensuring that they hold Branch Meetings as directed.
