DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzania Railway Corporation (TRC) technical team successfully restored Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) routes yesterday after an operational issue temporarily halted the Electric Multiple Unit en route to Dodoma from Dar es Salaam.
The train experienced a stoppage at 8:20 am in the area between Pugu and Soga, shortly after departing from Dar es Salaam at 8:00 am.
Head of the TRC Public Relations Unit, Mr Fredy Mwanjala confirmed that service resumed at approximately 3:45 pm. However, he noted that the disruption affected the TRC’s daily schedule, necessitating adjustments to accommodate passengers.
Hundreds of travellers were stranded for nearly seven hours, including those on other electrified trains traveling from Dodoma to Dar es Salaam via Morogoro were also paused for maintenance.

Earlier, TRC issued a statement informing passengers of the temporary disruption and apologised for the inconvenience caused by the operational fault.
The disruption specifically impacted scheduled electric trains, including one from Dodoma that was set to depart at 11:45 pm and another from Dar es Salaam scheduled to leave around 3:30 pm.
TRC experts were deployed to the site of the stoppage to resolve the issues.
