TPLB insists on grassroots training projects

TANZANIA Premier League Board (TPLB) has reiterated that proper investment in grooming coaches is among the core elements of football development in the country.

The Board’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Almasi Kasongo made the sentiments recently in Dar es Salaam when he presided over the closing ceremony of FIFA –backed training for grassroots level.

It was organised by the Ilala District Football Association (IDFA) to equip youth coaches with necessary skills needed for nurturing young players.

“Let me applaud IDFA for coming up with this important initiative which is among the four elements demanded to propel the growth of football not only in Tanzania, but the world at large.

“Development of coaches, referees, team doctors, grassroots programmes as well as good governance are what football industry throughout the world requires to blossom,” said Kasongo.

He added that the reason of the training is to ensure that teams in Ilala District are trained by well qualified coaches so that they can impart great skills to players.

Again, Kasongo urged beneficiaries of the training to continue upgrading themselves by attending capacity building lessons so that they remain updated all the time.
