DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) has said they are so far satisfied with the status of stadiums that have hosted the season opening league matches.

This was said yesterday in Dar es Salaam by the board’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Almasi Kasongo who said the venues are currently in good shape.

“Judging from the stadiums that have been used for the opening league matches of the campaign, I can say everything is well.

“You can see that the pitches are in good condition, including dressing rooms, technical benches and even security fences, as such in terms of infrastructures for the played games, we are thrilled.

“We will continue to monitor them because as you know, a football venue can be in perfect condition today and after a few days its beauty can disappear, hence we are going to be serious in ensuring that all league hosting venues are in playable status,” he said.

Kasongo also pointed out that one of the challenges they faced in the opening league matches were delays by some teams to complete signing of their players.

“The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) did a good job as they were frequently reminding clubs about the days remaining before the closure of the transfer window.

“One of the main setbacks is that management of some of the clubs prefer to do things very late before the deadline, which sometimes causes problems as some players miss opening matches due to lack of required permits,” he said.

A total of four stadiums were used to host the opening four league fixtures of the season, which are CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza where Pamba Jiji hosted Tanzania Prisons in a game that ended in a goalless draw.

Another venue was Lake Tanganyika Stadium in Kigoma which pitted Mashujaa against Dodoma Jiji, where the former won 1-0.

Similarly, Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya hosted KenGold versus Singida Black Stars and the latter emerged 3-1 winner to grab maximum points.

The other venue was the spectacular artificial turf of KMC Complex where Simba welcomed Tabora United and the Reds walked away with a massive 3-0 victory.
