DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF) has launched a five-day health screening and medical service programme to commemorate its 60th anniversary.
According to a statement from TPDF, signed by Acting Director of Information and Public Relations Colonel Gaudentius Ilonda, the programme began on Monday and would end on Friday this week and will take place in various locations across the country.
“The programme includes counselling and screening for both communicable and non-communicable diseases (NCDs), such as HIV, prostate cancer, oral health issues and screenings for breast and cervical cancer,” Col Ilonda explained.
Col Ilonda encouraged citizens to attend the screening events at designated locations, including: ZAKHEM grounds in Mbagala, Dar es Salaam, Bububu grounds in Unguja, Magereza grounds in Arusha, Tarafani grounds in Mbeya, Furahisha grounds in Mwanza and Chipukizi grounds in Tabora.

Others are Morogoro Secondary School Grounds in Morogoro, Matarawe Primary School grounds in Ruvuma, Gombani grounds in Pemba, Nyerere Square grounds in Dodoma and Stendi ya Zamani grounds in Nachingwea, Lindi.
Additionally, soldiers at all camps will participate in a blood donation drive, conducted in collaboration with the National Blood Transfusion Services (NBTS).
The health services will be available daily from 9 am to 6 pm.
The programme will culminate on September 1 with emergency treatment services provided at the Dar es Salaam National Stadium.
