Top US coach to bring elite swimming training to Dar

DAR ES SALAAM: DAR ES SALAAM is set to welcome a unique opportunity for aspiring swimmers, as celebrated US swimming coach and film actor, Atiba Wade arrives in Tanzania to conduct an intensive training programme.

Scheduled to run from June 27 to July 7, the programme will cater to swimmers aged five and above and is expected to attract participants from across the country.

The sessions will be held in Dar es Salaam and are open to swimmers of varying skill levels, from beginners to advanced competitors.

In a statement yesterday, Amina Mfaume, Director of Champion Rise Sports Promoters, announced that the programme will begin with a swimmers’ clinic from June 27 to June 30, followed by an internationally accredited coaching course from July 1 to July 7.

She said that both swimmers and coaches must register through the official website www.championrise.co.tz/event and that registration is currently open.

“This initiative will begin with a swimmers’ clinic, where young athletes will benefit directly from Coach Wade’s expertise in refining their techniques and enhancing their performance,” said Amina.

“Following the clinic, we will launch the coaches’ course, which offers a unique opportunity for local coaches to access internationally recognised training.”

Amina highlighted that the coaching course is certified by the American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) and is designed to elevate the standards of swimming coaching in Tanzania.

“The course includes comprehensive training on swimming techniques, coaching philosophies, athlete development and sports psychology,” she noted.

She noted Coach Wade’s reputation as an expert in highperformance training and modern coaching methods. In addition to being ASCA-certified, Wade brings a unique combination of experience from both elite sports and the film industry, having worked with various global celebrities.
