TLGU seeks support for Tanzania Ladies Open
DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU) is reaching out to companies, institutions and sports enthusiasts for support in organising the 2024 Tanzania Ladies Open Championship.
The union is seeking approximately 50m/-to successfully host this prestigious annual event.
Scheduled to take place from September 13th to 15th, the 54-hole, three day tournament will be held at the Arusha Gymkhana Club (AGC) in Arusha, a premier nine-hole course known for its challenging layout.
The championship promises to attract top female golfers from across the continent, making it a significant event in the African golf calendar.
TLGU President Queen Siraki, speaking to ‘Daily News’ in Dar es Salaam, confirmed that preparations for the tournament are already underway.
She emphasised the importance of the event for both local and international golfers.
“We are in the process of gearing up for what promises to be an exciting championship.
We are seeking around 50m/-to ensure that the event is organised successfully.
This tournament provides a vital platform for our top local golfers to compete against some of the best players from across Africa,” Siraki said.
The event aims not only to promote and develop women’s golf, but also to enhance Tanzania’s tourism profile.
Siraki stressed the significance of sponsorships, stating that they are crucial for the success of the tournament.
“We invite sponsors to come onboard and support this significant event.

Their involvement will help us deliver a successful championship and contribute to continental integration,” she added.
While the main competition is for women, men will also have the opportunity to participate in a subsidiary category, ensuring a comprehensive and inclusive tournament.
The Tanzania Ladies Open Championship has seen impressive performances from Tanzanian golfers in previous years.
Vicky Elias, from the Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF) Lugalo Golf Club in Dar es Salaam, is the defending champion.
