RUKWA: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has stressed government’s commitment to continue implementing development projects that will provide citizens with quality and reliable services.
The Head of State also called on citizens to register or update their information in the Permanent Voters’ Register (PVR) and actively participate in the upcoming Local Government Election slated for later this year.
“I urge you all to register in the PVR and to participate actively in the voting process,” President Samia stated yesterday at a public rally at CCM Nelson Mandela Stadium in Sumbawanga District Council as she concluded her three day working tour of Rukwa region.
She expressed satisfaction with execution of development projects in the region. “During my visit to Rukwa Region I had an opportunity to visit all the districts where I witnessed the results of the huge investment done by the government in various sectors,” she said.
During her visit to the region the President launched various development projects including Nkasi District Hospital and Matai- Kasanga road.

She said that the government continues to complete all the strategic projects and whose implementation is progressing.
She said in all constituencies she visited Members of Parliament have explained the implementation status of the development projects on behalf of the citizens.
Regarding the water sector, she said in Sumbawanga water availability is more than 96 per cent while in rural areas the supply has also improved significantly.
Dr Samia added that the government is proceeding with the execution of water projects to bring the service closer to the citizens including a large project to draw water from Lake Tanganyika to various regions in the country.
In the agricultural sector, the government continues to improve agricultural extension services and soil health, she said.
She said silos and warehouses in Rukwa region will increase the storage capacity of grain to nearly 60,000 tonnes and support the region’s maize production, purchase and processing.
She urged farmers continue producing crops so that the National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA) can buy and store the produce saying all the scales used are digital and read to the farmer’s phone.
In the CCM Election Manifesto 2020-2025, the party pledged to continue strengthening the education system to produce more competent professionals with expertise in science, technology, technical and other fields who can be self-employed and employed locally and internationally.
The party also committed to strengthening and revitalizing research, science, technology and technical institutions so that they can design resources to increase productivity in the production and service sectors.
Highlighting the government’s goal to boost the agricultural sector, Dr Samia said there has been an increase in the Ministry of Agriculture’s budget to support farmers in producing and exporting more crops.
She said National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA) has been equipped with modern silos to ensure crop quality and fair purchasing processes.
Additionally, Dr Samia said construction of Kaengesa – Chitete road is a continuation of the implementation of the CCM manifesto 2015- 2020.
She said the meaning of her slogan ‘Kazi iendelee,’ literally meaning ‘let the work continue,’ for the government is to develop what brings benefits for the citizens while for citizens is to increase efforts in their daily activities including agriculture and mining so that the country gets more income and more benefits.
