The media ensured safe coverage during the General Elections

MBEYA: POLICE in the Mbeya region have assured residents and the media of foolproof security throughout the General Elections on October 29, 2025.

The assurance was given by the Mbeya Regional Police Commander, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SACP) Benjamin Kuzaga, during a special forum organized by the Mbeya Press Club in collaboration with the Union of Tanzania Press Clubs (UTPC) as part of preparations for the upcoming elections.

Commander Kuzaga emphasized that the primary responsibility of the police is to protect citizens and their property, warning that any individuals or groups attempting to hold demonstrations without following legal procedures will face the full force of the law.

“The Police Force is strong and will not hesitate to take action against anyone who breaks the law or threatens peace. We assure all residents of Mbeya Region of their safety throughout the electoral process,” said Commander Kuzaga.

He also urged journalists to use their platforms responsibly by educating the public on the importance of maintaining peace, stability, and national security, stressing that peace is the foundation of national development.

“Journalists play a crucial role in safeguarding peace through the information they publish. We must be careful not to allow our words or reports to incite unrest,” he added.

Commander Kuzaga concluded by encouraging the people of Mbeya to turn out in large numbers on election day, stating:

“The Police Force guarantees full security and protection. Come out peacefully and calmly on October 29, 2025, to exercise your constitutional right to vote.”
