TFF impressed with TZ football development

DAR ES SALAAM: THE participation of senior football team Taifa Stars in the 2024 FIFA Series to be launched in Azerbaijan has been described as an indication that the country’s football is on the right track.

Taifa Stars will represent Africa at the contest set to feature four teams from three continents which are Africa, Asia, and Europe. Asia will be represented by hosts Azerbaijan and Mongolia while Bulgaria will be Europe’s envoy.

The first fixture for Stars falls on March 22nd against Bulgaria and their second encounter is on March 25th  versus Mon-golia. In his re-marks in Dar es Salaam yesterday, the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) Secretary General, Wilfred Kidao insisted that a lot of positive football developments are being witnessed.

“I think within the next two days, Taifa Stars interim coach Hemed Morocco will announce the squad to be deployed for the FIFA Series, a special competition arranged by the world’s football governing body. “It is a new project that FIFA is introducing and it will be launched in Azerbaijan and whose main purpose is to make teams from different continents play against each other. “For instance, Tanzania playing a friendly match against Bulgaria is not, easy but through the FIFA Series, it will be easy to play against any team from any continent,” he said.

He added that Tanzania football has developed a lot such that for Tanzanians, it is hard to observe but those who live outside the country are seeing the massive changes happening in the country.

“We are an exemplary country when it comes to football development, and there are many projects that FIFA and CAF are launching in the country for that sake. “Just yesterday (Monday), we launched Football for Schools program that replaces grassroots and the existing Talents Development Scheme (TDS), these will help a lot to upscale football standards,” Wilfred said

. He further revealed that Tanzania’s participation is a result of good cooperation with FIFA and that it is of significant importance to the flag bearers.
