TFF: Al Hilal to improve our league

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) said the participation of Sudan’s Al Hilal in the Mainland Premier League next season will help to make the league more competitive.

TFF Media and Communication Officer, Clifford said Al Hilal have indeed been given the green light to play in the Mainland Premier League next season but their points will not be counted for. It will be like playing friendly matches for them.

“They will be included in the league fixture for next season but whether they win or lose, the results will not be recorded as they will not be competing for the league title,” Ndimbo said.

He added that economically, Tanzania teams will benefit as their matches against Al Hilal will be attracting more people to watch hence gate collections will be high.

“As you know, it is not easy to get a chance to play against a team of Al Hilal caliber hence our teams will get a lot from them in terms of improving their performance levels.

“Also, their coming will help to popularise our league as their (Al Hilal) fans in Sudan and around the globe will be interested to know the performance of their team in the league thereby facilitating its coverage,” he said.

Ndimbo further pointed out that even official Television broadcasters of the league Azam TV have agreed to beam live all matches to be played by the Sudan based giants.

“Their request to be accommodated in our league was made as one way to protect the talents of their players since there is political instability in Sudan,” he said.

In a related development, Ndimbo also revealed that even Sudan referees who are in the country will be allowed to officiate league matches.
